Social Media Activist and Cyber Journalists in Manipur

The Bharatiya Janata Party IT cell is ready to include “Freedom of Expression” as poll promises for the General Election in 2014. With decks clear for Narendra Modi as the PM candidate for BJP, the party is optimistic of crossing Magic figure of 272+  as well.

Shri Vinit Goenka, National Co-convenor of IT Cell of BJP is setting up a panel to review the Information Act, Section 66 A. Social Media is now the only option to face either paid media or yellow journalism.  However, Social Media need to be protected from time to time.  For example, two girls were arrested over facebook comments, clearly indicating we don’t have “freedom of expression”.

The controversial Section 66 A which penalises sending of "false and offensive" messages through a computer or a communication device was widely debated soon after the girls arrest and young India took the arrest as a curb on freedom of expression.

Looking after frequent banned on Manipur media by armed rebels and also the inability of the journalists to exercise “freedom of expression” on many occasions, he suggest to  empower Social Media activists and  also to promote cyber journalists.

Manipur, though far from National capital has advanced in social media like facebook, orkut, twitter, blogs and online news portal like www.imphaltimes.com, www.e-pao.net which are sharing and informing news and events from the region. In order to protect the young IT professionals and end users, BJP is always ready to support.

Shri Vineet  has said, “The section 66 A of the IT Act is archaic and needs an amendment. We are setting up a panel to review the IT Act. We will also engage common man in this consultation process.” The recently concluded National Executive meet of IT Cell at #BJPITcellNE2013 discussed and takes a serious note of the continuing retrograde policies and actions of UPA government which is affecting the ICT sector in India. There has been an unprecedented loss of jobs under this government and millions of engineers and professionals stare at a bleak future.

The poll promises will further include a special policy for setting up of large number of rural BPOs. “This will help curb migration of rural population towards cities which results in collapsing of urban infrastructure. A special policy regarding rural BPOs is being discussed which will change the face of villages and small cities with employment generation,” said Goenka.

During UPA regime, sector like telecom which was a sunrise sector under NDA is turning to sickness. 2G scam has damaged the sector and delivered irretrievable loss to country’s investment climate, this is a fit case of demonstrating UPA’s specialization in busting a boom sector which otherwise was a big employment generator and delivering body blow to aspirations of Lakhs of youth of the nation.

Today we have reached a stage where each year around a million engineers in India are struggling to get jobs. Others are taking jobs well below their technical qualifications in a market where there are few jobs for India's overflowing technical talent pool. India trains more than 1.5 million engineers, which is more than the US and China combined. However, two key industries hiring these engineers, information technology and manufacturing are facing severe crisis and hiring fewer people than before.

#BJPITcellNE2013 calls upon the members across the nation and millions of Social Media users, supporters and volunteers to be ready for a vigorous democratic struggle for bringing a change of government which the nation urgently needs.
